QLife Money User Guide
How QLife Money works, step by step, for the beta.
Short, self-contained topics of three kinds: a concept explains how something works, a task walks you through doing it, and a reference lists the fields and terms on a page. New to the beta? Start with Getting started.
Welcome to the beta
- Welcome to the QLife Money betaWhat the beta is, what you get, what we ask of you, and how this guide is put together.
- Getting startedCreate your account, link your first bank or card, and see your money sorted. About ten minutes.
- How QLife Money thinksFill it, sort it, use it: the three ideas behind every screen, and the words scope, shoebox and household that you will see everywhere.
- Finding your way aroundThe sidebar, the scope switcher, the More page, and the ? help button.
- What is in the beta, and what is not yetThe features switched on for beta accounts, the ones that are visible but held back, and the ones that are not built yet.
- Reporting a problem or an ideaHow to tell us something is wrong, confusing or missing, and what to include so we can fix it quickly.
Your money
- HomeHome is the first screen after you sign in.
- AccountsThe Accounts page is where you connect, organize, and maintain all of your bank and financial accounts in QLife Money.
- TransactionsThe Transactions page is the primary feed of bank-connected activity from Plaid, Financial Connections (FC), and Treasury sources, plus any transactions you add by hand.
- Catch-UpCatch-Up is built for clearing a backlog — the classic 'I found a year of old bank statements and now have hundreds of loose transactions' situation.
- InsightsThe Insights page surfaces patterns and summaries computed from your bank-connected transactions (Plaid and Financial Connections sources; manually added transactions are not included).
- LiabilitiesThe Liabilities page shows credit-card statement data sourced from Plaid's liabilities product: statement balance, next payment due date, minimum payment, purchase APR, and credit utilization for every linked credit card.
- InvestmentsThe Investments page tracks your portfolio — the securities you hold, what you paid for them, what they're worth now, and your gains.
- ExpensesThe Expenses page collects bills, receipts, and invoices that arrive through your connected email account or that you upload manually.
The Shoebox
- ShoeboxThe Shoebox is a general-purpose document vault for receipts, tax documents, bank statements, business compliance filings, spreadsheets, and any other financial records you want to keep in one place.
- InboxThe Inbox page shows recent messages from a Gmail or iCloud account you have linked under My Account.
Planning
- Budget & ForecastThe Budget and Forecast page lets you create spending plans for your personal finances and each of your businesses, then monitor how actual income and expenses compare to those plans.
- Envelope BudgetThe Envelope Budget page is a zero-based, YNAB-style alternative to the Budget & Forecast page.
- Bills & Cash FlowThe Bills & Cash Flow page projects your recurring money movements forward so surprises don't land in your account.
- GoalsThe Goals page lets you set savings targets and debt-payoff goals and track progress toward each one through a manually updated current amount.
Your household
Taxes and records

- Start a BusinessThe Start a Business page is a guided setup timeline for launching a business the right way from day one — the steps most first-time owners don't know to do, in order.
- Open a QLife Money Business Account held backThe Open a QLife Money Business Account page is where a business starts opening a Stripe Treasury financial account.
- InvoicesThe Invoices page is where a business bills its clients, takes payments, and tracks what it's owed.

- Move MoneyThe Move Money page sends a business's money somewhere.
- Cards held backThe Cards page shows every Stripe Issuing card on a business's Stripe accounts: who holds it, whether it's Active, Frozen or Cancelled, its spending limit, and what it has been used for.
- My cards held backCards a business has issued to you, under your sign-in email — whether or not you have access to that business's books.
- AccountingThe Accounting page is a real set of double-entry books for one business at a time.
- Balance SheetThe Balance Sheet is the other half of your financial picture that a profit-and-loss statement can't show.
- Contractors & 1099sThis page tracks the people and companies a business pays for services, so you can meet your 1099-NEC obligations without scrambling in January.
- ComplianceThe Compliance page is a business-only hub that centralizes your regulatory obligations so nothing slips through.
Community
Your account
- My AccountThe My Account page manages your personal identity and contact details for QLife Money.
- My ProfileThe My Profile page controls how you appear to other members within QLife Money.
- NotificationsThe Notifications page lists your 50 most recent system notifications from QLife Money, showing unread items at full opacity with a green indicator dot and read items at reduced opacity.
- Your data and your privacyWhat we can and cannot see, how your bank connection works, and the controls you have.
- The More pageThe sidebar holds five destinations — Home, Accounts, Shoebox, Taxes and More — so it stays short enough to read at a glance.
