Open a QLife Money Business Account
The Open a QLife Money Business Account page is where a business starts opening a Stripe Treasury financial account.
During the current beta new business account applications are paused, so for most members the page shows 'Business accounts are paused' instead of the application form. It explains that nothing changes for businesses already open (existing accounts, transactions, and bookkeeping keep working), offers 'Back to My Businesses' and 'Email us' (hello@qlife.money) buttons so you can ask to be put at the front of the line, and points out that you can still add a tracking-only business from My Businesses, which gives you categorization, Schedule C reporting, and the balance sheet without a Stripe account. When applications reopen, the page is a two-step process: read and accept seven required legal agreements, then be redirected to Stripe's hosted verification flow to complete KYC and Customer Identification Program (CIP) requirements, with required disclosures about QLife Money's banking partner (Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Member FDIC) and FDIC pass-through insurance shown first. It can be launched for a brand-new business or to add another Stripe Connect account to an existing business. Platform admins additionally see a 'Bypass the pause' card with a 'Bypass business account pause' button that opens a guided, audited walkthrough for a Connect account with a Treasury financial account and card issuing.
How to
See why you can't open an account right now
- Open the page from '+ Open Bank Account' on My Businesses or '+ Open a QLife Money Business Account' on a business detail page.
- If you see 'Business accounts are paused', new applications are closed for everyone except platform admins. Your existing businesses are unaffected.
- Click 'Email us' (hello@qlife.money) to ask to be notified when applications reopen, or click 'Back to My Businesses'.
- To keep your books in the meantime, add a tracking-only business from My Businesses.
Open a business account (when applications reopen)
- Navigate to the page via '+ Open Bank Account' on My Businesses or '+ Open a QLife Money Business Account' on a business detail page.
- Read the 'Before you continue: required disclosures' panel at the top of the form.
- Enter your Business name (required) and select a Business type: 'LLC / Corporation / Partnership' or 'Sole proprietor'.
- Optionally enter a Business email; if left blank your QLife Money account email is used.
- Check each of the seven agreement checkboxes individually. Click 'Read' on any agreement that has a link to open the full text in a new tab.
- Once all checkboxes are checked and a business name is entered, the 'Continue to Stripe-Hosted Verification' button becomes active; click it.
- Complete the Stripe-hosted identity and business verification flow.
- Upon returning you land back on this page with a confirmation banner. Check My Businesses for account status.
Bypass the pause (platform admins only)
- On the paused screen, click 'Bypass business account pause' (a card marked 'Platform admin'; the page address ends in ?adminBypass=1). From a business detail page, the walkthrough starts with that business preselected.
- Step 1 — Business ('Which business is this for?'): in 'Open it for' choose 'A new business' or an existing one, then enter the legal business name, business type, and optional email. Next stays disabled until a name is entered.
- Step 2 — What gets set up: review the Stripe Connect account, the Treasury financial account, and card issuing (on by default). Turn card issuing off if the platform isn't approved for Stripe Issuing; otherwise account creation fails at step 4 and you can retry with it off.
- Step 3 — Agreements ('Review and accept'): accept each agreement, plus the Stripe Issuing Terms when card issuing is on. Next stays disabled until every box is checked.
- Step 4 — Verify with Stripe: click 'Create account & continue to Stripe' and complete Stripe's hosted verification.
- Step 5 — Financial account & cards: back on this page, check Stripe verification (use 'Resume verification with Stripe' or 'Continue verification with Stripe' if Stripe still needs anything), watch the Capabilities list, then click 'Open financial account' once Treasury is pending or active. Use 'Request card issuing' to add cards to an account opened without them. 'Refresh status' re-checks Stripe; 'Go to business' returns to the business page.
Reference
- Business accounts are paused
- The screen non-admin members see while new applications are closed (the server refuses new applications with a signups-closed error regardless of this page). It does not affect businesses that are already open.
- Business type
- A dropdown with two options: 'LLC / Corporation / Partnership' (company) or 'Sole proprietor' (individual). Determines how Stripe collects KYC information.
- Stripe Services Agreement
- Governs the relationship with Stripe, Inc. as the payments processor. Must be individually accepted before proceeding.
- Stripe Connected Account Agreement
- Governs the Stripe Connect account that QLife Money uses to process platform payments on the business's behalf.
- Stripe Financial Accounts for Platforms Terms
- Governs the QLife Money for Business financial account with funds held at Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Member FDIC.
- FDIC Pass-Through Insurance Disclosure
- An acknowledgment that USD balances are eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance up to $250,000 per depositor, per institution, in the same ownership category, and that neither Stripe nor QLife Money is itself FDIC-insured.
- Continue to Stripe-Hosted Verification
- The submit button on the application form, shown when applications are open. It is disabled until all seven agreement checkboxes are checked and a business name is entered. Clicking it redirects the browser to Stripe's hosted onboarding URL.
- Onboarding complete / link expired banners
- Status banners shown when returning from Stripe. 'Complete' ('You're back from Stripe') confirms the application was submitted and directs you to check My Businesses. 'Onboarding link expired' tells you to pick up where you left off without re-accepting the agreements. Platform admins on the walkthrough see the equivalent 'Back from Stripe' and 'The Stripe link expired' banners on step 5.
- Admin bypass
- Lets a platform admin open a real Stripe account while business onboarding is paused for everyone else. Each use is recorded in the audit log and tagged on the Stripe account as qlifeAdminBypass. The walkthrough shows an 'Admin bypass · onboarding paused' badge.
- Capability status
- Stripe's state for each feature on the Connect account (Card payments, Transfers, Treasury, Card issuing): active, pending (still under review; refresh in a few minutes), another state shown in red, or 'not requested'. The financial account can be opened once Treasury is pending or active.
