Move Money
The Move Money page sends a business's money somewhere.
There are two places it can come from, and they are not interchangeable. **Payments** is what customers have paid you — settled, but not yet deposited. It is called Payments rather than card sales because ACH, Link and Cash App payments land there too. **Business Checking** is a real bank account with its own routing and account number, FDIC-insured through Fifth Third; a business can hold more than one, so a tax escrow and a payroll account can each be their own. The rails differ per source: Payments sends standard (free, 1-2 days) or instant (minutes, free to you - Stripe bills the 1% to QLife Money as the platform). Business Checking sends by ACH (free, 1-2 days), wire (same day, your bank charges a fee), or instantly and free to another of your own accounts. Only the rails that this source and this destination can both do are offered, and the cheapest fast one is pre-selected - never a rail that charges you, so a wire is always a deliberate choice. Nothing sends without a review step whose figures the server computed. If moving money isn't switched on for your business, the page shows 'Not switched on yet' with a support@qlife.money link instead of the form; if the business has neither a Payments balance nor a Business Checking account it shows 'Nothing to move money from'. When you have both Payments and Business Checking, tabs at the top let you pick the source, each showing its available amount.
How to
Send money to a bank account or card
- Open Move Money. If you have more than one business, pick it from the selector at the top right; if the business has both Payments and Business Checking, pick the source from the tabs under the heading.
- Check the Available figure — that is the ceiling on what you can send. For Payments, 'Can go instantly' is the ceiling on an instant transfer, and 'Still clearing' has a 'See when it lands' link showing the dates each batch becomes available.
- Type the amount, or click Send everything available to send the whole available balance — nothing is held back for fees.
- Choose the destination. Anything that can take an instant transfer says so.
- Pick how to send it. Only the options this source and destination can both do are listed, and the cheapest fast free one is pre-selected. Instant is simply not offered when the destination cannot accept it (the To list marks such destinations 'instant' or 'unavailable').
- Optionally add a note. The first 22 characters appear on the receiving bank statement.
- Click Review transfer. The review panel shows Arrives at destination, Leaves your balance (the same figure — nothing extra is deducted), How, Arrives, and Balance afterwards.
- Click 'Send $X now' to confirm. Instant, wire and between-your-accounts transfers cannot be cancelled once sent. Cancel closes the review without sending.
Send from Business Checking to an account you've linked
- Pick a Business Checking account as the source.
- To send to someone else, click '+ Payee' in the Where it can go card and enter who you're paying, the nine-digit routing number, the account number, optionally their email, and Business or Person. Leave 'Save this payee for next time' ticked to keep it; untick it to use the details for this one send only (it then shows as 'not saved' at the top of the To list).
- Your own linked checking and savings accounts, and any accounts linked to this business, appear in the To list automatically — no routing number to type. Co-owners' personal accounts never appear.
- Choose ACH (free, 1-2 business days) or wire (same day). Some banks, Chase among them, only allow ACH to a linked account.
- Click Review transfer. The account number is fetched from your bank at this moment and is not stored.
- If it says your bank needs your OK to share the account number, open Accounts, choose Relink on that account, approve sharing, and try again.
- Accounts linked through Stripe rather than Plaid show as not available. Relink them, or add them as a payee.
Add a destination that supports instant transfers
- In the Where it can go card (with Payments as the source), click + Debit card.
- Enter the card number, expiry, CVC and postal code. The card details go straight to Stripe from your browser and never reach QLife Money's servers.
- It must be a debit card — Stripe will not pay out to a credit card, and one added by mistake is flagged in the destination list.
- Optionally tick Make this the default destination.
- Click Add card. It will then offer instant delivery on the transfer form.
Add a bank account
- In the Where it can go card (with Payments as the source), click + Bank account.
- Enter the account holder name, the nine-digit routing number, and the account number.
- Choose Business or Personal for the account type, and optionally tick 'Make this the default destination'.
- Click Add account. Bank accounts are free to send to and take one to two business days.
Change or remove a destination
- Find the destination in the Where it can go card.
- Click Make default to make it where scheduled payouts land (not offered for your own accounts or saved payees).
- Click Remove and confirm to detach it. Nothing will be sent there again unless you add it back. Your own Business Checking accounts show a 'Internal' badge and can't be removed.
Check a past transfer
- Scroll to Past transfers, which lists the last 25 sends with Sent, Amount, Speed and What happened.
- 'Arrived' with a date means it landed; 'On its way, expected <date>' is still in transit; 'Queued at the bank' is pending; 'Didn't go through' followed by a reason means it failed and the money did not leave.
Reference
- Payments
- What customers have paid you: settled, but not yet deposited anywhere. Not card-only — ACH, Link and Cash App payments land here too. Sends standard or instant.
- Business Checking
- A real bank account with its own routing and account number, FDIC-insured through Fifth Third. Sends by ACH or wire, and instantly and free to another of your own accounts. A business can hold several — for example a tax escrow that accumulates set-aside money, or a payroll account that fills before each run.
- Instant between your accounts
- Moving money between two of your own accounts on QLife Money is instant and free. It is the best rail available; it just cannot reach anyone outside the platform.
- Wire
- Same business day, and your bank charges a fee for it. Because it costs you money and cannot be undone, it is never pre-selected — you have to choose it.
- Available
- Money that has settled and can be sent right now. The ceiling on a standard transfer.
- Can go instantly
- The portion of the available balance eligible to leave within minutes. Not always the whole balance — some funding sources never qualify — so this is the real ceiling on an instant transfer.
- Still clearing
- Charges taken but not yet settled. They become Available on their own; nothing needs doing.
- Instant transfer
- Arrives in roughly 30 minutes. Works to a debit card, and to a bank account at one of the banks Stripe supports for instant payouts — eligibility is per destination, and each one in the list says whether it qualifies. Free to you: Stripe charges the 1% instant-payout fee (50¢ minimum) to QLife Money as the Connect platform, not to your balance. Sending $100 delivers $100 and reduces your balance by exactly $100. Cannot be cancelled once sent.
- Standard transfer
- Free, and arrives in one to two business days. Works to a bank account or a debit card.
- Automatic payouts are off
- Shown when the account's payout schedule is manual: money accumulates in the balance and stays there until someone sends it from this page. If a schedule is set instead, the page says what it is.
- Review transfer
- Prices and validates the transfer against live balances without sending anything. The figures on the review panel come from the server, so what you confirm is what was checked.
- Who can move money
- Only a business's owner, or someone holding an active owner or admin role on it. Read access to the books — a bookkeeper or accountant role — deliberately does not include the ability to send money.
- On its way out / Coming in
- Business Checking balance figures shown only when non-zero. 'On its way out' is sends that haven't settled yet; 'Coming in' is inbound transfers still settling. Business Checking has no 'Can go instantly' figure because the whole available balance can go on any rail.
- Not switched on yet
- Shown instead of the form when moving money is turned off for the business. Email support@qlife.money to have it turned on.
- Payee
- A person or company you send to from Business Checking by ACH or wire, added with '+ Payee'. Saved payees are listed under Where it can go; a payee that isn't saved is used for one send and then forgotten.
- Payouts switched off
- A warning on the balance card when Stripe has payouts turned off for the account, usually because something is outstanding in verification. Nothing sends until it is resolved.
