Compliance

The Compliance page is a business-only hub that centralizes your regulatory obligations so nothing slips through.

It is organized into three sections: an Upcoming Deadlines card that surfaces the most time-sensitive items first (it appears only once you have something with a date), a Registrations and Licenses tracker for permits and state filings, and a Tax Obligations tracker for recurring business tax payments. The page requires at least one business (otherwise it says 'Compliance tracking requires a business account') and focuses on whichever business is currently active; if you have multiple businesses you can switch between them using the business picker. Items are added from this page; there is no edit or delete control here.

How to

Switch to a different business

  1. If you have more than one business, locate the dropdown at the top right of the page showing your current business name.
  2. Select the desired business from the dropdown. The page reloads showing that business's compliance data.

Add a registration or license

  1. In the 'Registrations & Licenses' section, click '+ Add'. The Add Compliance Item form opens in place (click Cancel to close it).
  2. Select the Type (State Registration, Business License, Annual Report, Registered Agent, EIN, Sales Tax Permit, Professional License, DBA, Foreign Qualification, Operating Agreement, Articles of Incorporation, or Other).
  3. Enter the Jurisdiction (for example: CA, NY, or federal).
  4. Enter a Description and, optionally, a Registration #.
  5. Set the Renewal Date and Annual Fee ($) if applicable.
  6. Click 'Save'. The item appears in the registrations list.

Add a tax obligation

  1. In the 'Tax Obligations' section, click '+ Add'. The Add Tax Obligation form opens in place.
  2. Select the Obligation Type (Income Tax, Sales Tax, Payroll Tax, Franchise Tax, Excise Tax, Property Tax, Estimated Tax, or Other Tax).
  3. Enter the Jurisdiction (e.g. federal, CA, NYC).
  4. Select the Frequency (Monthly, Quarterly, Semi Annual, Annual, or One Time).
  5. Enter the Next Due Date, a Description, and an Estimated Amount ($) if known.
  6. Click 'Save'. The obligation appears in the tax obligations list and feeds the Upcoming Deadlines card.

Review upcoming deadlines

  1. At the top of the page, review the 'Upcoming Deadlines' card, which lists up to 10 items ordered by due date. A red 'N urgent' badge counts the overdue and due-soon items.
  2. Items marked urgent are either overdue (shown in pink with a days-overdue count) or due soon (shown in yellow with a days-remaining count).
  3. Resolve overdue or urgent items by completing the renewal or filing; the lists below show each item's status, renewal or due date, and amount.

Reference

Upcoming Deadlines
A calendar view of the next 10 compliance events, drawn from both registrations/licenses and tax obligations. Each event shows its description, jurisdiction, type, days until due or days overdue, due date, and estimated amount where available.
Urgent / Overdue
Flags set by the API on calendar events. Overdue events are highlighted in pink with a days-overdue label; urgent (but not yet overdue) events are highlighted in yellow with a days-remaining count.
Registration item Type
Category of a compliance item. Values: State Registration, Business License, Annual Report, Registered Agent, EIN, Sales Tax Permit, Professional License, DBA, Foreign Qualification, Operating Agreement, Articles of Incorporation, Other.
Compliance item Status
Current standing of a registration or license shown on its row: Active (green), Pending (yellow), Expired (pink), or Cancelled (muted). The Add form has no status field, so it comes from the item's record rather than something you set here.
Renewal Date
The date by which a registration or license must be renewed, shown as 'Renews [date]'. Items renewing within 30 days are highlighted in yellow. Tax obligations show 'Due [date]' instead — pink when past due, yellow within 30 days.
Annual Fee
The yearly cost associated with maintaining a registration or license, displayed per item.
Tax Obligation Frequency
How often the tax obligation recurs: Monthly, Quarterly, Semi Annual, Annual, or One Time.
Obligation Type
The category of business tax: Income, Sales, Payroll, Franchise, Excise, Property, Estimated, or Other Tax.
