Household
A household lets you and a partner (or a view-only member) share specific personal accounts without exposing everything else — nothing is shared until you turn it on here.
Define your household inclusively: spouses, partners, throuples, and chosen family. Create a household, invite members by email as a Partner or a Viewer, choose exactly which of your personal accounts to share, and see a per-member breakdown of money in, money out, and net across the shared accounts. If someone invites you, opening their invite link brings you here and joins you to their household automatically.
How to
Create your household
- Open Household from the sidebar (or the My Household link in the user menu).
- If you don't have a household yet, enter a name in the Create your household box.
- Click Create household. The full household view appears with you as the owner.
Invite a member
- In the Invite someone card (visible to the household owner), type the person's email address.
- Choose a role: Partner (can share accounts back to the household) or Viewer (can only see what you share).
- Click Send invite. The person appears in Members with a Pending status until they accept.
Accept an invite
- Open the invite link you received — it points to this page with an invite token.
- A confirmation banner reads "You've joined the household" and the household view loads.
- The invite token is removed from the address bar so refreshing won't re-submit it.
Share (or unshare) an account
- Scroll to the Shared accounts card, which lists your personal linked accounts.
- Check Share with household on any account to make it visible to your household.
- Uncheck it to make the account private again. Everything you don't check stays private.
Remove a member or leave the household
- As the owner, click Remove on an active member (or Revoke on a pending invite) to take away their access.
- On your own row, click Leave household to remove yourself.
- Confirm the prompt — the change takes effect immediately.
Reference
- Owner
- The person who created the household. Only the owner sees the Invite someone card and the Remove/Revoke buttons on other members.
- Member status
- Active (green) members have joined; Pending (muted) members have been invited but haven't accepted yet. Pending rows show the email the invite was sent to.
- Role — Partner vs Viewer
- Partner is a full household member who can share their own accounts back. Viewer is view-only and can see the accounts you share but shares nothing back.
- Contributions
- A per-member table of money In, money Out, and Net across the accounts shared with the household. It stays empty until shared accounts have activity.
