Investments

The Investments page tracks your portfolio — the securities you hold, what you paid for them, what they're worth now, and your gains.

Beta Brokerage sync is not switched on during the beta. Holdings are entered by hand.

Rather than typing in balances, you record the underlying activity (buys, sells, dividends, fees, and interest) and QLife Money rolls it up into holdings with a cost basis, average price, market value, and unrealized gain per position. Stat tiles at the top summarize total portfolio value, total cost basis, total unrealized gain (green when up, red when down), and realized gain locked in from sales. Because live market prices aren't always available, you can set a manual latest price per symbol to re-value a holding. The page follows the account switcher's scope (All, Personal, or a specific Business) exactly like Transactions.

The Holdings table columns are Symbol, Class, Qty, Avg cost, Price, Market value, and Unrealized. Before any activity exists the page shows 'No holdings yet' and 'No activity recorded yet'.

How to

Record investment activity

  1. Click '+ Add activity' at the top right of the Holdings card.
  2. Choose the Account the activity belongs to. Only investment accounts are listed when you have any; otherwise all linked accounts are listed. With no linked accounts you are told to link one first.
  3. Enter the ticker Symbol, pick a Type (Buy, Sell, Dividend, Interest, or Fee), and optionally a Security name and the Asset class.
  4. Set the Date. For a Buy or Sell, enter the Quantity and Price / share ($). For a Dividend, Interest, or Fee the quantity field is hidden and the price field becomes Amount ($).
  5. Optionally add a Fee ($, optional), then click Save. Holdings and gains recompute from the new activity, and the activity is filed under the active scope (Personal or the selected business).

Update a holding's price

  1. Find the holding row in the Holdings table.
  2. Click 'Update price' at the end of the row.
  3. Enter the latest price per share (and, optionally, the date it's as of).
  4. Click 'Save price'. The holding's market value and unrealized gain re-value immediately.

Remove an activity entry

  1. Scroll to the Activity list below the Holdings table.
  2. Click 'Delete' on the row you want to remove and confirm the prompt.
  3. The entry is removed and your holdings, cost basis, and gains recompute. This cannot be undone.

Reference

Cost basis
The total you paid to acquire your open positions (purchase price plus fees). Total portfolio value minus total cost basis is your unrealized gain.
Average price
The average per-share cost of a holding across all your buys of that symbol, shown in the Avg cost column.
Market value
The current worth of a holding — quantity times its current price. Uses the latest price on file, which you can set manually via 'Update price'.
Unrealized gain
The paper gain or loss on a position you still hold: market value minus cost basis. Green when positive, red when negative. Only realized once you sell.
Realized gain
Gains or losses locked in from securities you have sold, summed across the portfolio. Shown green when positive, red when negative.
Asset class
The category of a security, chosen in the Add activity modal: Equity / Stock, ETF, Mutual fund, Bond, Crypto, Cash / Money market, Option, or Other. It appears as a badge in the Class column of the holdings table (Stock, ETF, Fund, Bond, Crypto, Cash, Option).
Activity type
What an entry records: Buy or Sell (which need a quantity and price per share), or Dividend, Interest, or Fee (which record a flat amount). Each shows in the Activity list with its date, quantity and price (for trades), any fee, and the amount.
Update price
A per-holding action to set the latest price for that symbol manually, used to re-value the position when a live market price isn't available.
