Home

Home is the first screen after you sign in.

It answers two questions: what are you worth right now, and is there anything that needs a decision from you. The top card shows your net worth (everything you own minus everything you owe across the accounts in the current scope) with a link to your linked accounts. Below it, a Needs you card lists only the things waiting on a decision: documents in the Shoebox that were read but could not be matched to an account, a backlog of uncategorised transactions, and an invitation to set up a household if you have not. When there is nothing to do the card does not appear at all.

The rest of the page is a read-only summary: the last 30 days (what you spent, what came in, how many transactions, and the share spent at LGBTQ+-owned and allied businesses), where you spend most, a net worth chart over the last 180 days, spending by week, where it goes, and a compact by-year strip that opens each tax year's detail. Balances load first and the activity figures and charts fill in a moment later, because live balances come from your bank while activity comes from transactions already stored.

Before any account is linked, Home shows a single card, 'Your shoebox is empty. Let's fill it', with buttons to connect a bank or upload a statement.

How to

Check your net worth

  1. Open the dashboard. Home is the first entry in the sidebar.
  2. Read Net worth at the top of the page. Assets and Liabilities appear beneath it when they are available.
  3. Click the 'N linked accounts →' link to open the Accounts page.
  4. Scroll to the Net worth chart to see the last 180 days. Hover for a day's value, or expand the table beneath the chart to read the numbers.

Clear what needs you

  1. Look for the Needs you card under your net worth. If it is absent, nothing is waiting.
  2. 'N documents waiting on you' means the Shoebox read a file but could not tell which account it belongs to. Click Open shoebox → and assign each file to an account.
  3. 'N transactions need a category' means the backlog has passed 20. Click Start catching up → to open Catch-Up, where transactions are grouped by merchant so one decision clears every row for that merchant.
  4. 'Share money with your household' is an invitation, not a chore. Click Set it up → to open Household, or ignore it.

Review the last 30 days

  1. Scroll to the Last 30 days card: Spent, Came in, Transactions, and, when any spending matched the directory, the percentage at LGBTQ+-owned and allied businesses.
  2. Click See where it went → to open Insights.
  3. Where you spend most lists your top six merchants for the period. Click All transactions → to open Transactions.
  4. The Spending by week and Where it goes charts each have a hover layer and a data table beneath them, so every number is readable without the chart.

Open a tax year

  1. Scroll to By year. Each row shows the income, deductions and net for that year.
  2. Click Open → to see that year's filing entities, licences and the accounts that were active.
